In the fitness industry too many people, especially trainers (instructors) are obsessed with results. While results are important and ultimately the reason for which we do all of the hard work at the gym and keep our nutrition as clean as possible, the journey to those results is just as, if not more important.
I was always told as an adolescent and a young adult "work smarter, not harder" and while running for miles and miles on the treadmill and eating nothing but salads may seem like the only way to get the results we crave, understanding our bodies and working within our strengths as well as addressing our weaknesses can help us work smarter and achieve results more quickly.

Using a biomechanical movement analysis can help your fitness professional get a clearer picture of your physical strengths and limitations, and give a specific roadmap as to how to work most efficiently. Assessments also have the ability to disclose hidden injuries or compensations that we didn't know we had, giving us the ability to eliminate potential injurious movement patterns and work in a safer plane of movement.
As a professional instructor or a client, it is important to do a movement screening. It applies to all populations (children, injured, rehab, adults, athletes, etc) and allows us to get a detailed road map of how we will achieve the desired results while remaining injury free and healthy in the process!
