Vitamins, we've all heard of them, we've all been told we need to take them, but the question remains: Are they a necessary supplement or an over hyped marketing campaign designed?

Go to any grocery store, gym or fitness center, or health food store...there it is, display after display of the healthy vitamins that your body "needs" to achieve optimal health. It can be overwhelming. To think of every vitamin A to Zinc, which ones do you need, which ones do you have to much of, which ones need other elements for proper absorption, should you buy them on an individual case by case basis, or does a multivitamin suffice? So many questions, and depending where you turn a multitude of different answers for each one.

Now these are all great questions for anyone who's trying to live a healthier more conscious lifestyle to ask themselves, it's a great start down a long and prosperous path. Let's get this out of the way, supplements (vitamin or otherwise) can be beneficial, however, the key to vitamin and mineral and supplement success is a balanced nutrition. Most dieticians and doctors recommend a balanced diet and foods first as the best way forward. Foods offer the most bioavailable and bioactive forms of many nutrients needed for the body's processes.

Vitamins and supplements do have their roles, the biggest role would be to fill and fix any nutritional deficiencies. We all have some nutritional deficits and supplementation can help plug those unforeseen holes. The key is always to include them in addition to a balanced and healthy diet.

Now listed below are some of the vitamins and supplements that I take on a daily basis to help fill my nutritional gaps, check it out and drop me a line in the comments to let me know if I left something off the list that you suggest!
